Armenian parliament speaker met with delegation of ombudsmen from CIS and Eastern Europe
Issues concerning the making of the institution of ombudsman in Armenia were discussed during the meeting of National Assembly of Armenia Chairman Artur Bagdasarian with a delegation of ombudsmen and human rights activists from the CIS and Eastern Europe.
It was reported at the PR department of the Armenian parliament.
The sides noted during the talks that the parliament of Armenia had passed the law on ombudsman, thereby it met the commitment undertaken to the Council of Europe.
The ombudsmen and human rights activists from the CIS and Eastern Europe presented analogous laws being in force in their countries and showed they were ready to assist Armenia in the making of one of the most important institutions heading toward the country's democratization.
Bagdasarian invited the guests to take part in the scientific conference devoted to the making of the institution of ombudsman in Armenia. The conference is planned for 2004.
