Discussion about mechanisms of implementation of Law "On Freedom of Information" took place in Yerevan
The Law "On Freedom of Information" recently adopted by the National Assembly of Armenia is progressive. It is only necessary that mechanisms of its implementation should be worked out. This was noted at the round-table meeting organized by the Association of Investigative Journalists on October 15. Representatives of international and local public organizations, governmental bodies and journalists took part in the meeting.
While speaking about peculiarities of the law, Shushan Doydoian, head of the Center of Freedom of Information, which functions within the framework of the Association of Investigative Journalists, pointed out that not only state and local governmental bodies, but also private companies holding exclusive positions in the market bear responsibility to present information. Armenia is the second country after the South African Republic where one of the subjects obliged to present information is the private sector.
