ECtHR requests data from Russia about disappearance of Aushev's relatives
Today, it became known that on April 7 the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) asked the government of the Russian Federation to present, before May 19, 2010, copies of all the documents relating to the measures taken to establish whereabouts of four relatives of human rights activist Maksharip Aushev, who was shot dead last October, or about their custody in case they are in hands of the state.
Let us remind you that relatives of Fatima Dzhanieva - Maksharip Aushev's widow - disappeared in St Petersburg at night of December 28, 2009.
As reported today by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", the request of the ECtHR was preceded on April 5 by a complaint submitted by Olga Tseitlina, a lawyer of the HRC "Memorial", and urging the ECtHR to request the relatives' whereabouts, and if they had been detained by state bodies, whether they were provided with medical and legal aid, and what their custody conditions were.
