Karachai-Circassia introduces "children's curfew"

At their session on April 22, the MPs of Karachai-Circassia passed in the final reading the law "On Measures to Prevent Neglect of and Offences by Minors in the Karachai-Circassian Republic", which restricts minors' stay in public places.

According to the new law, children under 7 shall never appear in public places without their parents or lawful representatives.

In the period from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Moscow time, adult's accompaniment will be needed for children aged 7-14, as the "Interfax-South" writes. Teenagers from 14 years to majority fall under the same restriction from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Moscow time.

Also, the law adopted in Karachai-Circassia, assumes responsibility of teenagers' parents or lawful representatives for visiting by them during school hours of cinemas, entertaining complexes, Internet-halls and places selling printed and audiovisual media advertising violence and cruelty, pornography, drugs, toxicomania and antisocial behaviour, the "Yuga.Ru" writes. Visits to the places intended for consumption alcoholic and strong drinks is also forbidden.

Let us remind you that from early December 2009 in the Rostov Region children under 16 cannot stay without adults at night in public places. The law was adopted by the regional parliament.

At present, the children's and teenagers' "curfew" is in force in the Volgograd Region, Krasnodar Territory, Kalmykia and Dagestan. A similar law can be adopted also in North Ossetia.
