On May 9 in Derbent, employees of law enforcement bodies blocked, in the course of their special operation conducted in the vicinity of mosque "Arafat", suspected militants in a private house; some time later they were killed. The casualties were identified as Sadula Chiruglanov, a native of Azerbaijan, born in 1989, and Teimur Gulmetov, a resident of Derbent, born in 1989.

Today, Vyacheslav Shanshin, head of the FSB of Dagestan, has stated at the briefing that exactly these persons had organized the explosion at night on May 7 in the platform of the railway station in Derbent, when three militiamen and five peaceful residents suffered, and one woman later died in hospital.
