United Arab Emirates officially confirm Sulim Yamadaev's death
The authorities of Dubai have answered to the request of law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation about the fate of Hero of Russia Sulim Yamadaev, ex-commander of the special battalion of the GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff) "Vostok" (East).
As reported by inspectors of the criminal cases related to Sulim Yamadaev from the Chief Department for International-Legal Cooperation of the General Prosecutor's Office, they received a package of documents from Dubai, "which unequivocally confirmed the death of Sulim Yamadaev." According to police reports and results of the trial at the Emirate's Criminal Court, Yamadaev was killed on March 28, 2009, and was buried into the local cemetery.
"The documents include the protocol of examination of the place of the incident drawn up by policemen, the conclusion of the forensic-medical examination saying that six bullets got into Sulim Yamadaev's head and body, and four wounds were fatal," the "Kommersant" quotes the source. According to his data, the documents contained also the results of the genetic examination, which confirmed that the casualty was surely Sulim Yamadaev. According to experts, DNA essays for comparative analysis were taken from Sulim's junior brother Isa Yamadaev.
Isa Yamadaev himself said, in his turn, that he was not surprised with the answer from Dubai. "Sulim is still in grave condition in hospital awaiting another surgery. By informing about his death, the Emirate's law enforcement bodies, as I believe, continue their previous operative combination," said Isa Yamadaev. "Initially, his death was announced in order to prevent new attempts on him. Now Dubai tries to convince Russia's law enforcement bodies to start criminal prosecution of the persons involved in this crime."
Now, criminal prosecution of Sulim Yamadaev in Russia will be stopped, but the inquiry into his murder may be initiated, the "Gazeta.Ru" writes.
The Department for Interaction with Media of the Russian General Prosecutor's Office made no comments on the information about the documents received from Dubai.
