Youth rallies at the memorial blown up in Nalchik

Today, several hundreds of young men held a rally near the memorial "Eternal Flame", located at the entrance to the city park, which was blown up on September 17. The lay down 138 roses - by the number of soldiers buried there - to the survived part of the memorial.

The meeting was opened by Azamat Lyuyev, Chairman of the Union of Youth of the City of Nalchik. He said that the event was not pre-planned - young people themselves initiated the rally willing to express their indignation with the act of vandalism committed in this place.

"This year Nalchik was awarded the title 'City of War Glory'. Therefore, this blasphemy looks even more terrible," said Azamat. "Men in the Caucasus never shot at one's back. They always used to face an equal fight with worthy opponents."

The members of the student youth of Nalchik who spoke to the rally were also indignant with the explosion of the memorial.

The monument was erected in 1947 in the burial place of 138 soldiers, who perished in the fights for Nalchik. The "Eternal Flame" will light up again in the near future. Now repairs are underway in the place of the terror act.
