Chechen Government promises workplaces to displaced persons
A consultation was held at the Government House in Grozny on December 16. President of Chechnya Akhmad Kadyrov, Russia's Minister for Chechnya Stanislav Ilyasov, the representative of the South Federal District Mr. Korobeynikov, and heads of Chechen ministries and departments took part in it.
Two questions were on the agenda, namely acceleration of the process of paying compensations to the residents of Chechnya who lost dwelling and property in hostilities and displaced persons' return to the places of their permanent residence.
By several reasons, the Government of Chechnya has not completely coped with the entrusted task of returning all the displace persons to their homeland. 50 thousand residents of Chechnya still stay on the territory of Ingushetia, 5 thousand of them living in tent camps.
Many of those who still live in tents have dwelling in Chechnya. These people should be induced to return, noted Akhmad Kadyrov in the course of the consultation.
According to Mr. Ilyasov, displaced persons returning to the republic will not be left to the mercy of fate. A noticeable increase in workplaces is expected. Welfare payments for the unemployed are provided for in the budget.
