150 films to be screened in Armenia at "Golden Apricot" Film Festival

This year, the Eighth Traditional International Festival "Golden Apricot" has received a record number of applications – 630 films from 81 countries; out of them, 150 films from 45 countries were selected for the contest, Mikael Stamboltsyan, the festival programme director, told reporters. The festival will last from July 10 to July 17.

"It was not easy to select out of this number of applications; but the selection commission did a great job," said Stamboltsyan.

According to Tatevik Manukyan, head of the international division of the festival the festival will include four contest programmes: international feature and documentary films; "Armenian Panorama"; and a programme of short fiction films.

The festival will be opened by the movie "Certified Copy" by the famous Iranian film director Abbas Kiarostami, a laureate at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.

The programme consists of two main parts – the contest and off-contest screening. In its turn, the contest part assumes participation in three programmes: "International Feature Films", "International Documentaries" and "Armenian Panorama".
