Memorial to participants in Chechen war to be erected in Krasnodar
The contest on the best model of a memorial to participants in the Chechen war has finished in Krasnodar. The award ceremony was conducted by the deputy head of the Krasnodar city administration, Nikolay Petrikov, reported the press service of the city administration. The model presented by sculptor Alan Karnayev was chosen to be the best one. This model represents a man and a sweet - a killed soldier and his immortal sole. The memorial will be 7 meters in height and will be made of stone and bronze. The project costs about 10-15 million rubles. The required sum is planned to be collected from sponsors. The memorial will be mounted in the Pervomayskaya Grove in Krasnodar. In addition to the winner, the jury marked two other works: by sculptor Vladimir Zolotukhin and student Yuliya Golubyatnik. Public organizations of participants in Afghan and Chechen wars gave diplomas and prizes to authors of all the three models.
