FSB officers seize edition of book "FSB Blows Up Russia"

FSB (Federal Security Service) and police officers seized 4,400 books by Aleksandr Litvinenko and Yuri Felshtinsky "FSB Blows Up Russia", which were destined for retail trade, reads a press release by the Foundation for Civil Liberties.

The edition printed in Latvia was brought in to Russia, with all required customs formalities being fulfilled. The edition was to be received by Prima News Agency.

On December 29, in the morning, the car with books was stopped at the GIBDD (State Inspection for Traffic Security) post on the 111th kilometer of the Volokolamsky route allegedly for a check in connection with the operation "Vikhr-antiterror". All the books were unloaded at the GIBDD post.

According to the driver of the car, FSB officers talked to him, in particular the FSB investigator who said the books were withdrawn as an "antistate propaganda". A report was drawn up.

In the book "FSB Blows Up Russia" Litvinenko and Felshtinsky tell about the explosions in Moscow in 1999 and about the attendant circumstances.

Prima News Agency editor-in-chief Aleksandr Podrabinek, the dissident and political prisoner known in the past, said, "Everything what happened with the edition is another illustration of how the Federal Security Service behaves feeling its power and impunity. We are going back to the USSR with increased speed. The ground for the edition to be arrested - "antistate propaganda" - is a direct confirmation of it.

While going on the air of Echo of Moscow Radio, Mr. Podrabinek announced, "The situation with the books is not clear yet. The book supplier is responsible for them, so, formally he is the first one to act."
