Special operation conducted in Baksan, Kabardino-Balkaria

Today, the Shukhov Street in the city of Baksan in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) was the venue of a special operation aimed to liquidate a grouping of militants. The city was under the CTO (counterterrorist operation) regime.

Four suspected militants were killed; names of two of them had been announced earlier: Yuri Argashokov, 22, a native of Nalchik, and Rustam Zhemukhov, 32, a resident of the village of Zayukovo. Nothing is reported about the other two casualties. "It'll be established by the investigation," said the source.

In the course of the operation, three law enforcers were wounded, one of them heavily, and two civilians – a woman and a 19-year-old boy.

When the operation started, mothers of the alleged members of the armed underground, who were on a search list, asked to let them to the blocked house in Baksan in order to persuade their sons to surrender.
