Krasnodar Territory to test its schoolchildren for drug use

Medical professionals began rapid testing of students for drug use in schools and vocational schools of all cities and districts of the Krasnodar Territory.

Nearly 200,000 people are to be tested until the end of the school year. Testing for drug use will be conducted only with the consent of the pupils' parents.

According to Alexander Tkachov, Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, medical rapid tests will help to improve the quality of the work to prevent drug abuse among schoolchildren and students, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

"I'm sure that all normal parents are concerned to protect their child from becoming a drug addict. The experience of the pilot testing in last year showed that the vast majority of the Kuban residents support us," the site of the administration of the Krasnodar Territory quotes Alexander Tkachov as saying.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that testing for drug use is regularly conducted in several regions of southern Russia. Thus, in mid-April, about 1400 teenagers of the capital of Karachay-Cherkessia took anonymous testing. In Dagestan, the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KCR) and Chechnya the testing was conducted on a voluntary basis. This year, the testing of schoolchildren will be conducted in the Stavropol Territory.
