NTV journalist beaten up in Dagestan

Tonight in Makhachkala, Omar Magomedov, the correspondent of the North-Caucasian bureau of the NTV Company, was beaten.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. in the corner of Dzerzhinsky and Korkmasov Streets.

"I was moving in a car with my brother-in-law, when three guys started crossing the road in front of us against the red light. I made a remark; then, a verbal skirmish burst out. I got out of the car; and a fight started. My relative came to my help," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Magomedov as saying.

According to the journalist, the fight resulted in his cut eyebrow and his brother-in-law's cheek injury.

The journalist and his brother-in-law came to the trauma centre of Makhachkala; however, their attackers also appeared there with two more guys and again attacked Magomedov.

The conflict resulted in his brain concussion. He plans to write an application to the police on September 17, the "Kommersant Online" reports.
