An action on revealing elderly people experiencing hardships passed off in Kabardino-Balkaria

During a direct telephone “hotline” on revealing elderly people experiencing hardships organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development of Kabardino-Balkaria over one hundred calls were received. 63 of them were appeals for financial aid.

“The day before the action we carried out preparatory work to inform the population. Our information was spread all over mass media of the republic including local newspapers”, Madina Tokmakova, Head of Press service of the office, said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“We received many calls from villages. Hardships of adult people living in settlements were reported by their neighbours, she said. – The situation has never been like this before. Both relatives and neighbours and local authorities took more care of old people in the villages”.

Experts of Informational and Analytic Center of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development of KBR and a psychologist of Home for senior and disabled citizens in Nalchik talked to those who called.

All the calls were registered and visiting inspections will be carried out on the telephone messages. All the people in need will receive aid, the experts of the Ministry declared.

A similar direct telephone “hotline” was organized by the Ministry in April, 2011. Then it was aimed at detection of cases of cruel treating children. 26 calls were received.
