Participants of a picket against election in Rostov-on-Don called for the townsmen to strike themselves off electoral register

On October, 3, an action against parliamentary election of December, 4, 2011, passed off during which representatives of oppositional movements of the city and region called the passers-by to go to territorial election committees and demand striking them off electoral register.

The participants of the picket told the people that representatives of the opposition suggested to hold alternative election on that day. Young oppositionists brought a wreath to “bury” the election.

About ten persons with posters gathered at the picket. Many passers-by stopped to read the slogans. Some shot videos, others took the booklets, some shook their hands with approval.

“We call all of you to go to territorial election committees and demand striking yourselves off electoral register”, organizer of the action and coordinator of “Left Front” movement Vladislav Riazantsev told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“Deputies must be elected from among teachers, soldiers, physicians and ordinary workers”, participant of the picket Valentina Dluzhnevskaya considers.

A young man who stopped near the picketers asked them about the reason of their protest. “All our elections are just for show. It makes no sense taking part in them for there is no alternative to Putin and Medvedev”, Denis, student of a military school, said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent adding that he supported the picketers but had no time to participate in such actions.
