Syrian Circassians again ask Russian authorities to accept them at their historical homeland

A new appeal from 76 Circassians living in Syria with a request to help them to move to their historical homeland has been sent to the leadership of Russia and authorities of Adygea, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia.

Earlier, on December 25, 2011, 115 Circassian nationals living in Syria sent an appeal to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, leader of Adygea Aslan Tkhakushinov, State Council-Khase of Adygea, public movement "Adyge-Khase" and the people of Adygea "calling for a helping hand and salvation from imminent tragedy." On December 28, 57 more Syrian Circassians appealed to the leadership of the Russian Federation and the government of Adygea for help in resettling to Russia.

"We, the Adygs (Circassians) of Syria, are fully aware that we are facing a difficult problem, which is also complicated for the Russian Federation and the nations of this great country. But the only people, whom we can address for help and salvation, are the people of the Russian Federation, our brothers and sisters in Northern Caucasus," says the new appeal, signed by 76 citizens of Syria and quoted by the independent Circassian portal "Elot.Ru".

They note that those who had earlier appealed for help to Russia are exposed to pressure; however, they confirm their "desire to return to the land of their ancestors."
