In Dagestan, resident of Untsukul District claim village of Gimry blocked by power agents
The village of Gimry of the Untsukul District of Dagestan is completely blocked by law enforcement agents and soldiers; the village is approached by heavy military equipment. This was reported by residents of the village.
According to recent information, more than 150 items of military equipment and a large number of military personnel are brought to the village. "A curfew was announced, it is forbidden to go out from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. The power agents divided the very village into several sectors and conducted searches of houses," the message, which came to the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot", reports.
"Starting yesterday's morning, entry and exit of the village is completely forbidden. Armed policemen are everywhere. However, many villagers work outside the village of Gimry, and we need to leave the village for other reasons, in particular, for illness. Armed people in camouflage do not explain anything to the villagers, and they go around households and check passports," says Sharapudin Nurmagomedov, a resident of the village of Gimry.
Today, Sharapudin Nurmagomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about the villagers' attempts to negotiate with the power agents.
"Our Imam Magomedsaigid tried to meet power agents to learn the essence of their claims; however, policemen told him that they 'came there not to negotiate and talk.' At present, power agents cordoned off the house of Magomed Suleimanov. We do not know what is going on there, since the house is completely blocked. In the vicinity of the village, power agents have set up their tents; perhaps, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) will last for a long time," said the resident of the village of Gimry.
Djavatkhan Abdulaev, the acting head of the Untsukul District, confirmed the blockade of the village, he also stated that he was not aware of the reason why the special operation was carried out.
The unit on duty of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan declared that they knew nothing about the ongoing events in the village.
