Lawyer: Khashagulgov was tortured to knock out confessions

Issa Khashagulgov, a resident of Karabulak, accused of organizing a terror acts at the Central Marketplace in Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia, was tortured by unidentified persons, who demanded that he gave evidences as wanted by the investigation, said Issa's advocate Batyrbek Akhilgov.

Today, Issa's brother - Sultan-Girei Khashagulgov - said that Issa had been tortured.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Batyrbek Akhilgov, who visited his client at the IVS (temporary detention facility), that at night on January 19, 2012, Issa Khashagulgov, who is kept at the IVS of Vladikavkaz was taken to the IVS of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. From there, unidentified persons took him to some secret place, where for about an hour they tortured and beat him with truncheons on his head, poured water on him and humiliated. They demanded from Issa to give the evidences as wanted by inspectors during a confrontation with another figurant in the same case Ali Daurbekov. The lawyer said after beating Issa Khashagulgov complained of his blurred vision.

Lawyer Akhilgov said that he had sent an application on the illegal actions of unidentified persons to the head of the investigatory group, engaged in inquiring the terror act committed at the central marketplace of Vladikavkaz.

Issa's wife Pyatimat Khashagulgova has reported about the incident with her husband to human rights organizations of the republic.

Akhmed Kotiev, Secretary of the Security Council, to whom Pyatimat turned for help, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had contacted law enforcement bodies of the neighbouring republic about the actions of law enforcers.
