Tarzan Kokoity refuses to run for presidency of South Ossetia

The former South-Ossetian president's representative in the parliament Tarzan Kokoity has refused to run for the presidency. Today, Mr Kokoity has addressed the Central Election Commission (CEC) with his appropriate statement, said the local CEC.

He said that he made the decision after much deliberation.

"This is my personal conviction. I thought for long and decided to withdraw from the electoral race, because, in my opinion, participation in it is inexpedient for me," the "Interfax" quotes Tarzan Kokoity as saying.

"Mr Kokoity's application has arrived at the CEC today and was taken into account," said Bella Plieva, the head of the CEC. According to her story, now the CEC is considering registration or non-registration of the remaining candidates, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
