Unidentified persons tried to kidnap a local in Dagestan

In Makhachkala, on May 11, after the Friday prayer, in the township of Shamkhal, Kirov District, unidentified armed men in masks and camouflage and civilian clothes tried to kidnap Ali Magomedov, a resident of the township.

"In one of the streets, a white UAZ van with tinted windows and no license plates drove up to Ali at high speed; five armed men in masks jumped out of it; one of them was in camouflage, the others – in civilian clothes. They pounced on Ali, but he began actively resisting; then a few people ran up to help Ali; then the kidnappers got into the van and drove at high speed in the direction of Makhachkala," said Magomed Shamsudinov, a resident of Shamkhal.

He also said that the van with the kidnapper had been cruising through the streets of the township since early morning.

Ali Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had already been kidnapped in 2011. "Then too, I was attacked by unidentified armed persons. They put a plastic bag over my head and took me to some unknown place, where I was severely beaten; they demanded to confess of my alleged links with militants. When I said that I knew nothing and nobody, they let me go," said Ali Magomedov.

He said that he was registered by the police as a follower of the Salafi trend of Islam; he does not work; he is married and has four children.

The press service of the Dagestani MIA has reported that they knew nothing about the incident.
