In Yerevan, two people killed in explosion at "Elektron" Plant

The death toll in the explosion at the "Elektron" Plant in Yerevan reached two persons. This was reported by Armen Eritsyan, Minister for Emergencies.

"Part of the building collapsed, rescuers managed to extract one of the victims; however, we were informed that he died. The body of another victim was found recently," said the Minister. He clarified that the deceased persons were the workshop chief and his deputy.

According to witnesses, they heard three explosions, and then the building of the plant's workshop collapsed, the "NEWS.am" reports.

According to the Minister for Emergencies, the police have instituted a criminal case; however, the official refused to mention preliminary versions of the incident.

Armen Eritsyan also reported that Seiran Oganyan, Minister of Defence, had arrived in the place, since the Ministry of Defence (MoD) had signed a contract with that company and the plant manufactured products by special order of the MoD.

Dog specialists work at the place, the IA "News-Armenia" reports.

Let us remind you that in Yerevan, four persons were injured in the explosion, which occurred on April 24 in the territory of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Armenian Molybdenum Production", engaged in the production of ferromolybdenum for the metallurgical industry. Victims with burning injuries of different degrees were hospitalized.
