Twelve citizens of Georgia released in South Ossetia

The authorities of South Ossetia have handed over to the Georgian party 12 persons detained for crossing the administrative border, the Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported today.

According to the MIA, the Georgian citizens were released as a result of negotiations held with the South-Ossetian counterparts.

The negotiations took place with the help of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia, the "Interfax" has reported today with reference to the Georgia's MIA.

On May 1-4, 22 residents of the village of Korbouli, Sachkher District, and of the villages of Khvani and Goira, were detained at the South-Ossetian-Georgian border.

So far, 17 of them have been released, including five minors, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
