Chief architect of Pyatigorsk suspected of bribe-taking

Yuri Ushkov, the chief architect of the Architecture and City Planning Department of the Administration of Pyatigorsk, and his son are suspected of taking and mediation in taking bribes, the Investigatory Department for the Stavropol Territory of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported.

A criminal case has been opened against the two relatives.

According to the investigation, in January-February 2013, the chief architect proposed a woman-resident of the city to secretly approve the project documentation about a transfer of an apartment into the category of a non-residential premise.

In doing so, according to investigators, the chief architect asked for a monetary reward for the service, which is free of charge. According to the agreement, the woman gave a bribe of 170,000 roubles to the son of the chief architect.

The son of the architect was detained at receiving the money by law enforcement officials. Investigatory actions are underway; and the criminal inquiry continues, the official website of the Investigatory Department for the Stavropol Territory of the ICRF has reported today.
