In Chechnya, combat engineers clear 240 hectares of land within 1.5 months
During the period starting from April 1 till May 15, military men from the combat engineering battalion of the unit of the Ministry of Defence of the Southern Military District cleared 240 hectares of land in the three districts of Chechnya of mines, bombs and other explosive devices. This was reported by the military commandants' office of the republic.
"For the past 1.5 months from the start of the regular stage of works for land demining, in the Kurchaloi, Achkhoi-Martan and Grozny Districts of the republic, combat engineers checked 240 hectares of agricultural land. Meanwhile, they found and destroyed more than 600 explosive objects. Land demining is held in accordance with the plans specified," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a staff member of the military commandants' office.
The officer has emphasized that 1454 hectares of land will be cleared of mines in Chechnya till the end of the year. Earlier, it has been reported that in 2013, combat engineers will clear of mines more than 700 hectares of the Chechen territory.
