Dagestan SC upholds verdict in case against policemen who beat teenager

The Supreme Court of Dagestan dismissed the appeal filed by the defence of Gamzat Nurudinov and Shamil Magomedaliev, staff members of the Shamil ROVD (District Interior Division), who were sentenced to two years of conditional imprisonment in the case of beating 14-year-old Makhmud Akhmedov. This was reported by the Human Rights Centre "Memorial".

According to the information of the HRC "Memorial", "the policemen were dissatisfied with the verdict and filed the appeal, which was considered by the court on May 16."

"The Supreme Court of Dagestan made the decision to uphold the verdict of guilty for Gamzat Nurudinov and Shamil Magomedaliev," states the message of the HRC "Memorial".
