Sergey Minasyan: Eurovision is a political project in post-Soviet space
Armenia lacks political weight to ever win the Eurovision Song Contest, local political analysts believe. In any case, Armenia will never win the first place, because the country is not ready to host this contest, local economists add.
The "Eurovision-2013" was launched in the Swedish city of Malmo on May 13. Its final concert was reached, in particular, by Russia (Dina Garipova), Group "Dorians" from Armenia, the Azerbaijani Farid Mamedov and Georgian singers Sopho Gelovani and Nodiko Tatishvili.
In the West, "Eurovision" is poorly popular and little-known, while the former Soviet Union, he became a political event, said political analyst Sergey Minasyan, the deputy director of the Caucasus Institute.
The political scientist Ervand Bozoyan said, in his turn, that regarding the "Eurovision" as a purely political project is not quite correct; however, its political context cannot be excluded. In his opinion, Armenia lacks the weight to achieve a significant success there.
Meanwhile, the Armenian community is resolutely waiting for the victory of its participant at the song contest.
