Armenia: relatives of lost soldier force Minister of Defence to meet them
Today, Seiran Oganyan, Minister of Defence, is meeting the parents of the deceased regular soldier Lux Stepanyan, who had tried to bring their son's body to Yerevan and take part in the protest action.
Lux Stepanyan was killed on May 15 in one of the military units deployed in the city of Noyemberyan, Tavush Region of Armenia. A private David Khachatryan was detained and arrested on suspicion of killing his fellow soldier.
Today, the parents of the deceased soldier wanted to bring his body to the building of the Armenian government in Yerevan and take part in the protest action. However, the way of soldier's relatives to Yerevan was blocked by road police and cars of the Ministry of Defence (MoD); a clash burst out.
Hundreds of people who accompanied the relatives to Yerevan in their cars gathered at the place; the highway was blocked, the "Armenia Today" reports.
As a result, the site of the incident was visited by the police boss Vladimir Gasparyan and the Armenian Defence Minister Seiran Oganyan. Together with the relatives of the deceased soldier they went to his home village for the funeral, the "Aysor.am" reports.
