Deschitsa: relatives of missing citizens of South Ossetia to meet Georgia's General Public Prosecutor
An agreement has been reached with Georgian authorities that in late May relatives of the missing citizens of South Ossetia will meet the General Public Prosecutor of Georgia. This was reported at a meeting in Tskhinvali by Andriy Deschitsa, the OSCE co-chairman of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia.
On May 17, the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia from international organizations (OSCE, EU and UN) met in Tskhinvali with local officials and discussed the agenda of the upcoming discussions, including the fate of the missing people.
According to Andriy Deschitsa, the co-chairman from the OSCE, an agreement was reached with the General Public Prosecutor and Minister of Justice of Georgia to hold this meeting in late May.
"We hope that it will be fruitful. We saw willingness and even received assurances from the General Public Prosecutor of Georgia of his desire to help. He revived all the cases and already gave appropriate instructions to begin, as soon as possible, re-investigation into the fate of the missing persons," said Mr Deschitsa.
