Officials of Mayor’s office of Batumi detained for accusation of misappropriation of stare funds
On May, 20, chief of a department and two experts of Mayor’s office of Batumi, Georgia, were detained by Committee of Inquiry of the Ministry of Finance for accusation of misappropriation of state funds on an especially large scale and negligence.
Charges connected with the case of construction of bikeways in the town were brought against Chief of Department of Engineering supervision Tariel Makharadze and experts of the same Department Nodar Mamuladze and Ramaz Beladze. Representatives of “Lindek Georgia” limited company Mamuka Natsvlishvili, Malkaz Kohreidze and Temur Gunia were detained in connection with the same case.
According to the investigation, Mayor’s office of Batumi signed three contracts with “Lindek Georgia” on construction of bikeways to a sum of 941 515 lari, however “Lindek Georgia” fulfilled its obligations only in part and by entering forged data into the documentation misappropriated 417 thousand lari (about 225 thousand dollars). Officials of Mayor’s office of Batumi displayed service negligence and accepted unfinished works, “InterpressNews” referring to Committee of Inquiry of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia reports.
Investigation is carried out according to part 3, clause 182 and clause 342 of the Criminal Code, “Georgia Online” reports.
