Wife of an arrested resident of Buinaksk reports unlawful methods of investigation
Relatives of resident of Buinaksk Zurabek Ashurov detained for accusation of illegal storage of arms report unlawful methods of investigation and forcing him to reject the attorneys’ aid. The investigative bodies produce no comment on the process of investigation of the case.
Zurabek Ashurov aged 25 was detained in Buinaksk on May, 12. On the same day Makhach Gamzatov was detained in Makhachkala and Gamzatov’s friend Sharif Magomedov disappeared. On May, 15, Sovietsky district court of Makhachkala arrested Ashurov and Gamzatov for a two-months term. They are both incriminated in complicity in the activities of paramilitary groups.
An officer of Police Department of Buinaksk told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that a criminal case was initiated against the detainees on the fact of firing upon a car in Buinaksk on April, 30, as a result of which three policemen were killed and two got wounded. A search was carried out in Ashurov’s house within the framework of the case during which arms and cartridges were found.
Ashurov’s wife Djamilya states that there have been violations since the moment of detention. In particular, after the detention the relatives were not informed about the man’s location, the investigator first prohibited the attorney’s meeting with Ashurov and then the latter was forced to reject three attorney’s aid.
Besides, according to Ashurov’s relatives, he underwent torture: they put a package on his head, injected psychoactive substances, tortured him with current and beat him up.
