In Stavropol, figurant in case of death of young men in pressure chamber sentenced to two years of freedom restriction
The court has found Vladimir Poltarabatsko, a doctor of the Children Clinical Hospital of the Stavropol Territory, guilty of the death of a patient in a hyperbaric chamber, and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment, the ICRF reports today.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 30, 2012, the 17-year-old Alexander Dyadchenko received burns in the pressure chamber of the above Hospital. On September 1, the boy died in the intensive care unit.
According to the prosecution, Vladimir Poltarabatsko, a specialist in hyperbaric oxygenation of the department of the gravitational blood surgery, failed, prior to the procedure of barotherapy, to properly prepare the patient. He did not take a lighter away from Dyadchenko, because of which an ignition occurred of the cotton mattress and combustible materials inside the chamber.
The Promyshlenny District Court of Stavropol has upheld the prosecution and found Poltarabatsko guilty under the article of "Causing death by negligence due to improper performance of one's professional duties" (Part 2, Article 109, of the Russian Criminal Code).
Apart from two years of restricted freedom with a ban to get out of the territory, the doctor has been also deprived of the right to engage in professional activities, as reported by the website of the Investigatory Department for the Stavropol Territory of the ICRF.
Besides, the court has ordered to collect 165,000 roubles from the children's hospital, where the incident occurred, in favour of the victims, the website of the Territorial Prosecutor's Office reports today.
