Defenders of landing stage beaten in Volgograd Region
On June 1, at about 2:30 a.m., the tent camp at the landing stage in the Volgograd Region was attacked by unidentified persons, who arrived in cars, beat the defenders of the building and burned down the camp. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Nikolai Cherniavskiy, an activist of the "Left-Wing Front", who was also a victim of the incident.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a group of activists launched a campaign on April 24, demanding to abandon the plans of demolition of the old buildings, a river attraction of the Volgograd Region – an old landing stage. In the evening on May 30, four men already attacked the defenders of the old structure.
"We were prepared for the attack," said Cherniavskiy. "A guy, a girl and I were severely beaten. We are now in Hospital No. 1 of the Kirov District. The attackers set the landing stage and the camp on fire. We managed to save the landing stage, but the camp was burned down completely."
So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of law enforcement bodies regarding the incident. Let us note here that now the demolition works are suspended. The Regional Committee for Protection of Environment and Nature made a decision to initiate an administrative investigation into the violations of environmental regulations at dismantling the landing stage.
