Residents of Krasnodar go to picket demanding to build a kindergarten
On June 1, in the micro-district Yubileiny of Krasnodar, about 20 young parents took part in a picket with a demand to the local authorities to solve the problem of shortage of places in kindergartens of their micro-district.
The event, organized by the regional branch of the "Yabloko" Party and a local initiative group of citizens, had been coordinated with the city administration. The picket was dated to the International Children's Day, Yana Antonova, one of the initiators of the action and a resident of the micro-district, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The situation with the lack of places in kindergartens is very heavy: now, there are 40-50 kids in a group, which promotes the growth of diseases and injuries. Educators are unable to give due attention to teaching and development of each child. Our micro-district is young; therefore, we demand to build a new kindergarten," she said.
According to Antonova, on December 26, 2012, the Mayor Vladimir Evlanov promised to start building a new kindergarten in April 2013; however, the construction has not yet begun.
According to the Mayoralty of Krasnodar, by the end of 2012, the waiting list for kindergarten places in Yubileiny made 1500 children. The "Caucasian Knot" was assured by local authorities that a kindergarten in Yubileiny will be built in the near future.
