Defenders of unloading dock attacked in Volgograd, eyewitness reports
In the evening on May 30, four unidentified men attacked the defenders of the unloading dock, located in the Volgograd Region, a blogger Alexei Ulyanov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 24 a group of activists launched a campaign, demanding to abandon the plans to demolish an old building and a river attraction of the Volgograd Region - the unloading dock. Activists set up a tent camp near the place and have already reported about prevention of several attempts to demolish the historical building. At present, the demolition is suspended.
Let us note here that the Committee for Protection of Environment and Nature of the Volgograd Region made a decision to open an administrative case and conduct a check of violations of the environmental legislation at dismantling the unloading dock.
"At about 6:00 p.m., four strangers came up to the building of the unloading dock; they drank beer, and made noise. Activists asked them not to go onto the unloading dock, because the construction is in the state of emergency and can be dangerous; however, they entered the deck and stayed there for about 20 minutes. When they were going out, one of them threw a stone at one of the girls; and then he received a remark from Daniel (the leader of the defenders of the unloading dock, - note of the "Caucasian Knot"), then two of the strangers rushed at him," said Ulyanov, who visited the scene of the incident.
According to his story, the attackers pushed Daniel to the ground, grabbed two sapper's spades that were near the tents and began beating Daniel in his head; then, they went away together with the spades. "The girls called an ambulance, which came after 20 minutes, and the police, which never appeared," Ulyanov said.
