Zurabyan: international community has no interest in human rights in Armenia
As stated by Levon Zurabyan, the head of the parliamentary faction of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), during a protest action in Yerevan, the international community is more interested in Armenia's geopolitical problems, rather than in the democratic situation in the country, while the activities of "foreign missionaries" cannot be considered satisfactory.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the ANC has organized a protest in front of the Hotel "Marriott", where the sitting of the OSCE Standing Commission took place. Supporters of the ANC have stated that the delegates from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Armenia must condemn the series of rigged elections held in the country and persecution of political activists.
From May 2012 till May 2013, Armenia held elections to the country's National Assembly and the Board of Elders of Yerevan, and the presidential election. All three campaigns were won by the ruling Republican Party, while observers stated violations in the course of the voting.
About 40 supporters of the ANC, including the youth wing of the party, accused the international community in the person of the OSCE of "inadequate response to negative events, in particular, to permissiveness and the existence of the criminal leadership in the country and human rights violations."
