Armenia: "Heritage" cancels a week of rallies
The oppositional "Heritage" Party has cancelled the week of rallies, announced in Liberty Square in Yerevan from May 24 to May 30, said the party spokesman Ovsep Khurshudyan.
According to his story, the leader of the "Heritage" Party Raffi Ovannisyan is currently outside the country, so holding "by the party of such actions is unlikely."
In his turn, the deputy chairman of the "Heritage" has assured that the application for rallies on May 24-30 had been submitted to the Mayoralty before the voting day and "well in advance, so no one else occupied the square."
"The political situation in Armenia at that time was somewhat meticulous; therefore, we decided to book a place for rallies in advance, in case we need it. Now, we don't see any need for this," said Armen Martirosyan.
