A businessman in Chechnya convicted for financing the gunmen

The Supreme Court of Chechen Republic sentenced private entrepreneur Islam Shamsaitov to three years of custody for finance support of participants of armed underground.

The investigation established that last September Shamsaitov who had his own business in Grozny granted 35 thousand roubles on carrying out “jihad” to local resident Khasbulatov when he was going to Vedeno district to join the group of gunmen of brothers Hussein and Muslim Gakaev, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was told in Public Prosecutor’s office of the republic.

The verdict against the twenty-six-year-old businessman was brought on January, 23, “taking into account that he fully repented of what he had done and the fact that he had committed no crimes before”, a representative of Public Prosecutor’s office said.
