Volgograd: seventeen people picket against use of animals in circus

On August 9, at the building of the circus in Volgograd, a picket against the use of animals in circus, coordinated with the authorities, was held.

The picket was attended by 17 people, as Tatiana Ryabinova, the organizer of the action and coordinator of the Volgograd regional branch of the organization named "Vita – Centre for Animals' Rights", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. They held posters reading: "Animals are not slaves!", "Menagerie prisoners are circus waste" and others.

"I've exposed children's drawings made within the nationwide contest 'Are you having fun? But they don't' dedicated to the torture of animals in the circus. At the very beginning of the action one woman grabbed a drawing and tore it into pieces. This has struck me. In general, today a lot of people stopped and read the posters and looked at the drawings," said Ryabinova.

The picket was accompanied by a cage with children inside, masked as animals. Besides, a two-meter-high structure of plywood depicted a tamer, torturing animals. "Each person can put his or her head into the opening and get photographed," said the organizer of the rally.
