Convicts in Dagestani journalist Gadjiev's case transferred to Grozny SIZO
Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev, who are waiting for consideration of their appeal complaints against verdicts, have been transferred from the Novocherkassk SIZO (pre-trial prison) to the Grozny one, Gadjiev's wife has reported, while one of Gadjiev's colleagues has added that his solo picket in Gadjiev's support sparked interest among passers-by in Makhachkala.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev's colleagues treat his criminal case as political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in his support. Today, as well as a week earlier, such a picket was held by Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" (Draft) outlet.
At the Novocherkassk SIZO, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, one of "Chernovik" editors, was awaiting consideration of an appeal lodged against his verdict, which was filed back in September 2023. The consideration date was not set for a long time. Only on September 6, the advocate was informed that the hearing was scheduled for October 7.
According to Dana Sakieva, Gadjiev's wife, the custody conditions at the Grozny SIZO are good.
"Abdulmumin wrote that he felt as if he was abroad. Probably, as compared with SIZOs in Makhachkala and Rostov ... In Grozny, there's probably relative order and cleanliness. The food is much better," said Sakieva, emphasizing that her husband has no complaints.
Let us remind you that one of the three judges, who had passed the sentence, in his dissenting opinion, criticized the grounds for the guilty verdict and essentially acquitted Gadjiev.
