In Akhshtyr quarry in Sochi, construction waste disposed with violations, Vladimir Ostapuk asserts
The Sochi Public Ecological Council has filed to the "Rosprirodnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Supervision of Natural Resources) an appeal in connection with plans to locate a landfill for construction waste from the Olympic facilities in the village of Akhshtyr. This was reported by Vladimir Ostapuk, Chairman of the Council. In the Akhshtyr quarry, construction waste is disposed with violations of the law. This was stated in the response of the regional administration of the "Rosprirodnadzor".
According to the information of the ecologists, on July 12, Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government, held a meeting that made the decision to locate a landfill for construction waste and land dumps in the Akhshtyr quarry. The plans to locate the landfill from the construction sites of the Olympic facilities arouse the protests of ecological and social organizations of Sochi.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Vladimir Ostapuk that officials from the administration of the Federal Agency for Supervision of Natural Resources for the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea (the "Rosprirodnadzor") reported that works on the restoration of the quarry were performed by the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "RZhD-Stroy". Meanwhile, the organization is not licensed for waste disposal. On that fact, administrative proceedings were instituted under Article 8.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation against OJSC "RZhD-Stroy" that performed works for the restoration of the quarry.
It should be noted that on August 7, Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government, assured that no hazardous construction waste is disposed in the territory of Sochi. Speaking of the Akhshtyr quarry, Dmitry Kozak stated that construction soils are disposed there.
