Kadyrov's eldest son is honorary citizen of Grozny
For his significant contribution to sports development, Akhmat Kadyrov was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Grozny".
In his Telegram channel, Akhmed Dudaev, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, has written that Akhmat Kadyrov was awarded this title for his significant contribution to the development of sports. Dudaev has noted that within a short time, Akhmat Kadyrov "has achieved impressive results and is efficiently implementing his activities in the field of sports policy," and also called him "a successful manager, a worthy representative of his kin."
In November 2023, when he was 18, Akhmat Kadyrov was appointed deputy minister for physical culture, sports and youth policy of Chechnya. A position of this level cannot be held by a person without higher education, this restriction is established by the republic’s law, the lawyers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have noted. In May 2024, Akhmat Kadyrov became president of the “Akhmat” Football Club.
In March 2023, Akhmat Kadyrov, who was then 17 years old, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Human rights defenders regarded this meeting as a signal that power in Chechnya will continue to be passed on by inheritance.
