Valery Yevnevich: CIS peacekeeping contingent is force capable of providing peace in CIS countries
"The peacekeeping contingent of the CIS countries remains a real and sole force capable of providing peace and stability on the territory of the Commonwealth," Russian Land Forces Deputy Commander-in-Chief on Peacekeeping Operations Lieutenant-General Valery Yevnevich said in his interview with the Rossiysky Mirotvorets (Russian Peacekeeper) newspaper upon his arrival in Sukhum. He was quoted as saying "only the presence of the CIS PKF (Peacekeeping Forces) in conflict areas can guarantee security for civilians and facilitate the process of peaceful adjustment between conflict parties."
