Leaders of new social and political movement hold press conference
Leaders of the new social and political movement United Abkhazia held the first press conference.
"The idea of creating the movement appeared following the aggravation of the internal political situation in the county in late January. And the initiator of the creation of United Abkhazia was the Unity deputy group," deputy Daur Tarba said at the press conference.
"We intend to unite all progressive society forces in United Abkhazia, basing on the community of social interests, building of the sovereign Abkhazian state, and principles of democracy," Daur Tarba said.
"United Abkhazia is for strong presidential government," said Nodar Khashba, former head of the Sukhum city administration and now a high-ranking official at the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
Speaking of the movement's political orientation, United Abkhazia Chairman Artur Mikvabia called it patriotic.
