Armenian oppositionists enter their headquarters sealed up by police
Leaders of the opposition party Anrapetutiun (Republic) being supported by approximately 100 followers entered the party's headquarters, which was sealed up by the police on the night of April 12-13, after the dispersal of an opposition meeting. Police did not stand guard over the entrance.
The opposition leaders entered the room to the applause of the people. The office was smashed up. Party leader Albert Bazeian said they were going to turn to the European Court of Human Rights in view of the illegal closure of the party's office and the damage done to it. "First, we will invite representatives of our prosecutor's office. We do not trust Armenian law-enforcement agencies any more, but this is the procedure for filing a complaint with the European Court," Mr Bazeian said. A party member tried to enter the office on April 14 and was arrested for three days for it, he added.
