Ataman Kuts admits that he turned to Prosecutor's Office against Pussy Riot's stay in Sochi

One of the Sochi-based websites has posted the appeal of Nikolai Kuts, the Ataman of the Tsentralny District Cossack Society of Sochi, to the city prosecutor to express protest against the presence of Pussy Riot band in the capital of the Olympics. Nikolai Kuts has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent the authenticity of his appeal, stating that during the incident on February 19 Cossacks did not beat the girls, but tried to stop the disorders.

"Earlier, the said persons insulted our religious feelings by holding a punk prayer in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. We officially declare that they will not be allowed to conduct such actions in the territory of our beloved city – the capital of Winter Olympic Games," Kuts noted in his appeal.

Rafael Khachaturov, the head of the Sochi branch of the Krasnodar Territorial Bar, has named Nikolai Kuts' demands contradictory to the law.

"Cossacks should understand that they live in Russia, a civilized country with the rule of law. They should understand that with their publicly beating women they disgraced Russia throughout the world. The demands moved by Ataman Nikolai Kuts to the city prosecutor are illegal. Nobody has the right to restrict the freedom of movement of Russian citizens, who are lawfully present in the territory of Russia," said the lawyer.
