Georgian-Abkhazian meetings to be held in Moscow and Geneva

Abkhazian Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba and the Abkhazian President's aid Astamur Taniya, who are to represent Abkhazia during these two meetings, attended the meeting of Raul Khadzhimba and Heidi Tagliavini.
The Prime Minister of Abkhazia and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Georgia met on April 16 in Sukhum to discuss the Georgian-Abkhazian meetings set for April - in Moscow and Geneva. Abkhazian Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba and the Abkhazian President's aid Astamur Taniya, who are to represent Abkhazia during these two meetings, attended the meeting of Raul Khadzhimba and Heidi Tagliavini. The meeting in Geneva will be held under the aegis of the United Nations and will be devoted to prospects of international security guarantees [in the territory of Abkhazia]. During the meeting in Moscow, the conflict parties, through the mediation of Russia and the UN Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG), are expected to discuss the implementation of the Sochi agreements between the Presidents of Russia and Georgia and the Prime Minister of Abkhazia.

To remind, in the course of the meeting in Sochi in March 2003, the agreements were reached on the resumption of the train service through Abkhazia, reconstruction of the Inguri Hydroelectric Power Station, and return of refugees to the Gali district of the breakaway republic.
