Georgian parliament demands to neutralize illegal armed units in Adjaria
The Georgian parliament passed a special resolution on the situation in Adjaria at the plenary session on April 23. 178 deputies voted for the document, and 2 abstained. According to the resolution, "the president and the government are to secure inviolability of the indivisible constitutional space; and the law-enforcement agencies are to cut shot gross violations of human rights and draw up a plan to liquidate illegal armed units and disarm the population." "The parliamentary resolution on Adjaria is severe in character. This is caused by the situation that has arisen in the autonomy," the head of the Georgian parliament said to journalists after the document had been passed.
