Activists urge KBR's authorities to preserve Gedmishkh Waterfall

Activists of the network of public organization "Republic is a common cause" have expressed their concern over the fate of the Gedmishkh Waterfall, which can disappear as a result of the construction of water pipeline. On August 23, the activists organized a trip to the Zolskoe District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) to investigate the situation on site.

In their letter addressed to Yuri Kokov, the Acting Head of the KBR, prepared following the results of the trip, the public activists ask the leader to intervene in the situation and prevent the destruction of the Gedmishkh Waterfall, one of the points of interest in the republic.

In his turn, Ruslan Etezov, the Deputy Minister of Construction of the KBR, has assured the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the KBR's authorities will take additional steps to preserve the Gedmishkh Waterfall.

According to Ruslan Etezov, at the spring of Gedmishkh, the works are underway to construct a group water pipeline to supply 17 villages of the Zolskoe District with drinking water. According to the Deputy Minister, the Zolskoe District is the only region of the KBR with no drinking water, where no groundwater is available to ensure drilling wells.

Ruslan Etezov has stated that all documentation for the construction of water pipeline had been approved by all the necessary evaluations, including ecological expert evaluation.
