In Dagestan, cops are accused of banditry

The Dagestani Prosecutor's Office has sent to the court a case of five local residents accused of organizing a gang, robbery, hostage-taking, theft and illicit arms trafficking. The prosecution asserts that the gang included policemen from the "Kizilyurt" Inter-District Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The figurants in the case are the following residents of Dagestan: Gaziyav Djamaludinov, 37; Makhmud Khaibulaev, 25; Magomed Piraev, 27; Askhabali Zairbekov, 48; and Abdulmuslim Magomedov, 41.

According to prosecutors, the defendants committed their attacks with firearms, special means and VAZ-21144 service car with police logos. They also dressed in uniform of road patrol service, camouflage and masks.

    In Novorossiysk, a court found Natalia Fedorenko, an advocate of blogger Vadim Kharchenko*, guilty of violating privacy and banned her from practicing law for two years. Natalia Fedorenko was also sentenced to community service.
